Episode 5 of season 1. In this episode, I sit down to interview Leyla Guerrero, a notable worship singer and a studio recording artist. Born in Lima-Peru, Leyla moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20 and started a very successful career as a Studio Singer and Voice Over artist. Over time, she has recorded background vocals for an impressive list of international stars. Some examples of these include Gloria Estefan, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Juan Gabriel, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, Mark Anthony, Paul Anka, Luis Miguel, Placido Domingo, and Justin Timberlake just to name a few.

You can hear her singing voice in movies like Vantage Point, Happy Feet, Ice Age 2, The Emperor’s New Groove, Nacho Libre, Along Came Polly, Sea Biscuit, and also in TV series such as Eli Stone, Boston Legal and Big Time Rush. She is also a Spanish-language vocal coach for artists like Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Mathew Morrison from Glee.

Leyla has been part of the “Latin Grammy’s Person of The Year” Band for several years, singing live at the main celebratory event for Alejandro Sanz, Carlos Santana, Shakira, Natalia Lafourcade, Julieta Venegas, Mana, and Placido Domingo, among others. Other events of hers include being the lead vocalist for the presentation of David Beckham’s new soccer team in Miami. Throughout the years, she has recorded commercials (singing and Voice over) for clients such as Sears, Macy’s, Coca Cola, Mc Donald’s, Burger King, Toyota, Kohl’s, Ross, Zale’s, TJ Maxx, Vons, Albertsons, etc. Additionally Being a strong believer in Christ, Leyla leads worship every Sunday at her church Shepherd of the Hills, a non-denominational Christian church in Porter Ranch California.

Join us as we talk about faith and using our God-given talents to serve a greater calling upon our life. Leyla gives advice on how to survive in the studios of the music industry, the difference between the Spanish and English industry, and the importance of being a Latina worship leader in the growing diversity of the Christian faith and English speaking churches.

After listening to this episode, I invite you to ask yourself: what is your God-given purpose in this life? And here’s the secret, it’s not just one purpose or calling, it can be a few or multiple! The way you can begin exploring this is by asking yourself a few questions: What do I like or love? What do I not like? What am I passionate about? What makes me happy? What makes me upset or sad? Who inspires me? What are the things I am good at, gifts that I have, or the things I enjoy doing? How can I use my talents to serve others? Don’t worry if you can’t answer all of these questions right away. Sometimes realizing these things and what value you possess takes some time to realize. I encourage to pray and meditate on these questions. Also, please do not lie to yourself or listen to lies in your head. If you are alive today, on this earth living and breathing you have a purpose and add value to this world. It is my personal belief through my faith that God created you specifically for the plans he has for you and purpose. He does not create anything in vain and you are fearfully and wonderfully and intricately created by God and loved by him to do good works for what he planned in advance for you to do. If you need proof of this I encourage you to read Psalm 139, Jeremiah 29:11 and Ephesians 2:10 all in The Bible. Also, if you want to go deeper into discovering your purpose, passions, and future career goals I will leave a link in the description to the 21-day challenge entitled Building your Brand God’s Way worksheet. I did it and it was so monumental in how it helped me discover and formulate my purpose, identity, and business/career goals!
