EL NUEVO SOL
Approximately 50% of residents in Los Angeles County live in park-poor neighborhoods, meaning they have restricted access to green spaces. In addition to not living near parks, millions of urban county residents lack backyards or vehicles, further limiting their ability to experience the outdoors and connect with nature.
On April 30, 2022, non-profit organization Nature for All made it possible for a diverse group to explore the Malibu Creek State Park landscape, just 25 miles from downtown L.A. The park, a top hiking destination, boasts many trails with breathtaking views. People of all ages, including seniors and children, ventured into the terrain together.
Nature for All’s mission is to ensure that those who face challenges in reaching natural public spaces have the opportunity to encounter their beauty and benefit from their many health advantages. Participants arrived by bus, provided by Nature for All, with some traveling from as far as the San Gabriel Valley. For at least a little while, they were able to enjoy the thrill of getting out and discovering new sights.
