Below is a series of video interviews taken at the march against corporate greed on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Occupy Los Angeles.

Hélène Domon, professor of French Studies at Cal State University Fullerton, takes part in the Occupy Los Angeles march on Saturday, October 15, 2011, which is one of over 1,000 events taking place worldwide for a global day of action against corporate greed.

Domon discusses the role of protest in French civil society, and she compares the French political system with that of the United States, noting similarities which many Americans may find surprising.

A young homeless street musician, taking part in the Occupy Los Angeles movement in downtown LA, speaks about his experiences at the encampment, where he has been for a week, as well as his impressions of the change our society needs to make, in order to break out of our present greed and self-obsession.

Kathy and Ryan, a mother and son, come to Occupy LA to take part in the global day of action against corporate greed, on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Ryan is an eleven-year-old seventh grader, who was dragged to the event because he was grounded, and in a humorous exchange, he puts up a high wall of resistance against his mother’s efforts to expose him to this peaceful protest of our broken political and economic system.

Alex and Ben, two articulate twenty-somethings, take part in the Occupy Los Angeles march on the financial district, for the global day of action against corporate greed. They discuss the reasons they’ve come to join the movement, noting the entrenched interests who benefit from the system as it is, the insidious role of the corporate media in distorting the nature of the uprising, and they offer solutions for lifting the US out of the Great Recession – and building a better society for all.

Jeff “The Dude” Dowd, the real-life inspiration behind the cult classic movie, “The Big Lebowski,” appears at Occupy Los Angeles for the October 15, 2011 global day of action against corporate greed. Dowd lives up to his reputation fully with a discursive explication of the Occupy Wall Street movement, as seen through the interpretive lens of his tortoise-shell shades.
