Housekeepers, their coworkers, and allies from civil society march in an enormous picket outside of the luxurious Hyatt Century Plaza in Century City, California. They are protesting the hazardous work environment at Hyatt hotels – shown to be the most dangerous of the top 50 hotel chains in the U.S. Officials from “Unite HERE!” local 11, the hotelworkers union, claim that housekeepers suffer from a rate of injury higher even than coal miners! This event from February 10, 2011, coincided with similar rallies outside of Hyatt hotels around the country.
